Each floor has its own entrance from the street, its own kitchen, its own electricity meter (through BESCOM), and ideally its own staircase. This structure exists primarily for two purposes in Bangalore: multi-generational families that want proximity with privacy, and owners who want to live on one floor and generate rental income from the other. In the IT-corridor zones of east Bangalore (Sarjapur, Marathahalli, Electronic City), duplex rental income is one of the most consistent cash flows available to a residential property owner.
